This database for international architecture, originally emerging from records of interesting building projects from architecture students, has meanwhile become the largest online-database about worldwide architects and buildings from past to present. BNF (British National Formulary)

Aims to provide prescribers, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals with sound up-to-date information about the use of medicines. Non NHS users must register - you can then access the full text of the BNF for 15 minutes per visit. NHS users can access BNF through NHSNet for unrestricted use.

BNI Plus: British Nursing Index

Box of Broadcasts (BoB)

BoB is an off-air recording and media archive service produced by the British Universities Film and Video Council. It is available to staff and students of the University and allows you to record TV and radio programmes due to be broadcast over the next seven days. BoB stores recorded TV and Radio programmes in an archive. The archive currently offers over 60,000 TV and radio programmes covering all subjects. Access available via Library e-direct.

BRAD

The online version of British Rate and Data. BRAD provides current and comprehensive information on all UK advertising media, including updated rates and data on over 13,000 media titles across all sectors. Circulation and audience reach figures in each entry enable a comparison with other titles.

British & Irish Legal Information Institute (BAILII)

Free access to primary law materials arranged as 76 databases, covering seven jurisdictions, including the UK, Ireland and the EU. As a result of the Open Law Project, it has access to leading judgments identified by academics, arranged by subject.
The service provides decisions of the Privy Council, House of Lords and Court of Appeal, and other important courts of Scottish and Irish jurisdictions. There is legislation from three jurisdictions. Also, recent reports from the Law Commission of England & Wales.
BAILLI is a non-profit making charitable trust, and the service is a major tool for legal research used by solicitors and barristers. It is based at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, University of London.

EBSCOhost

Information covering a range of subjects in both full text and abstract form, with content from journals and other sources. There is facility to search peer-reviewed (scholarly) journals, and pdf images are given for most of the content. Journals in full text exceed 5,000.
EBSCOhost is the platform and host to 11 individual databases, including Academic Search Elite (arts & science), Business Source Premier (marketing and management), CINAHL (nursing), Communication and Mass Media Complete and Hospitality and Tourism Complete.
As well as journal articles in full text, many of the databases provide other non-journal content in full text, such as market research reports, industry reports, country economic reports (EIU) and SWOT analyses.

ICLR Online

Online access to authoritative full text law reports and case law indexing/ digest services from the Incorporated Council of Law Reporting (ICLR). 78,000 law reports in full text from law report titles such as: The Law Reports, The Weekly Law Reports and The Business Law Reports, covering Queens Bench, Chancery and Family divisions of the High Court and Appeals Cases heard in the UK Supreme Court. Additionally there are 86,000 index records from services such Citator Plus – ICLR Online’s case law citator.

The John Johnson collection: An archive of printed ephemera

The John Johnson collection is widely recognised as one of the most important collections of printed ephemera in the world. Containing 1.5 million items ranging in date from 1508 to 1939, it spans the entire range of printing and social history. Via the ProQuest platform.

Full text legal information, in the form of separate ‘sources’ you can search or browse. The sources are grouped as cases, legislation, commentary, forms & precedents and journals. There is a cases citator (index of citations) service called CaseSearch, indicating the status of a case and its judicial history, and a Legal Journals Index ‘PLUS’, covering 500 UK and international journals. You can search across all or individual sources, as well as browse (select from a list of contents).
The contents worth highlighting are: full text of 84 law report series, including All England Law Reports; amended legislation with annotations, full text of 45 commentaries including Halsbury’s Laws of England, and forms and precedents, including Encyclopaedia of Forms & Precedents.

Osiris

Osiris allows you to research a company's financials (turnover, profit, etc.) spanning the last 30 years, and other data (e.g. ownership). You can also compare growth /performance with that of a competitor, or the company's sector /industry, using various criteria (no. of employees, financials, stock data, etc.). The data is updated weekly.
The database contains over 67,000 public companies, in three main categories: industrial companies, banks and insurance firms, some listed (quoted on stock market), some unlisted. Some 130 countries are represented, including the UK.
Osiris is produced by Bureau van Dijk, though separate providers contribute, through collection and updating of the various data available.

ProQuest is the platform and host to seven individual databases, including ABI/Inform Complete (5,745 journals, 80% in full text), Accounting & Tax Periodicals, Entrepreneurship, Banking Information Source, and UK Newsstand.
The content in individual databases is sourced predominantly from journals and newspapers, published by (amongst others) Emerald, CUP and the FT, whereas some other content is provided by Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU) (e.g. country reports and datasets) and Business Monitor International (BMI) (industry reports).
