Library Users' Charter
The Libraries are designed to help all students in their studies whilst at University of West London. The Libraries are areas specifically developed for study and research, the quality of the environment depends heavily upon the attitude and behaviour of users, namely you.
What we can do for you:
- provide an environment which is safe, comfortable and conducive to study
- provide friendly, helpful advice and support
- provide training sessions to help you in your studies
- provide specialist staff available to support your use of resources
- provide a wide range of information sources and learning materials
- provide networked IT facilities allowing access to a range of software and online databases
- provide handouts to help you study and use our resources effectively
- offer advice about study facilities you can use outside University of West London
- offer advice about an inter-library loans service to complement our stock
- provide a detailed, easy-to-use library catalogue
- provide a system for reserving books and other materials
What we expect from you:
- always have your Unique ID Card available and notify Unique Card Centre immediately if it is lost, stolen or damaged
- never lend your Unique ID Card to another person for any reason
- behave appropriately so that you do not disturb other users
- switch off mobile phones on entering the Library
- not bring food or drinks into the Library
- remember to respect silent and quiet study areas throughout the Library
- use equipment for study purposes only
- report any damage to, or faults with, equipment or learning materials
- accept responsibility for any lost or damaged items borrowed on your card
- be aware of our service hours and leave the building promptly at closing time
- vacate the building immediately on hearing the fire alarm
- attend Library training sessions as arranged
- always keep your possessions with you and do not leave them unattended at any time
- abide by the copyright regulations (listed by each photocopier) when copying from books, journals and other materials in the Library
